Tina Kammer and Andrea Herold are appointed as professional authorities in international jury committees. EDITORIAL

Since our first yearbook, geopolitical power shifts have dominated social discourse and have played a decisive role in sustainable development matters. The planning, construction and operation of our built environment represent the core of sustainable progress. It is important to act within global limits and to drive decarbonisation forwards on all levels. Architecture and design as disciplines do not stand alone in this but are embedded in interrelations, interdisciplinary processes and constant change. This interplay broadens perspectives and allows an understanding of the wider picture, so that cities and buildings can become resilient in future in the face of changing life situations and external influences.

This yearbook presents constructional solutions and pioneering concepts that go beyond the status quo. Approaches to the available building stock are a common thread in many of the projects and reveal a wide range of options – as well as new buildings that are more than just functional.
