In cooperation with the Architektur-Forum Baden-Württemberg, we were pleased to host a lecture by Jolyon Brewis, CEO at Grimshaw Architects.
The complimentary lecture took place at the InteriorPark. Store Stuttgart: about 170 guests filled our store and followed the lecture about ‘Growing the Future City’.
There continues to be an overwhelming rise in the numbers of people drawn to urban living and working, which means our cities need to grow – and fast. This trend creates challenges and tensions, but also presents great opportunities to design a better future for our cities. In this talk, Jolyon discussed ways to respond to this challenge, using illustrations from research and real-world projects. He explored six city growth themes around navigating, working, playing, learning, greening, and housing, with ideas for the future as well as real-world projects demonstrating ways in which sustainability and culture can be woven into the urban fabric.Jolyon Brewis is a Partner with Grimshaw, a leading architectural practice based in offices in London, New York, Melbourne, Sydney and Doha. Under his leadership (CEO) the practice grew from 270 to 420 people.
Jolyon is skilled in finding creative, pragmatic solutions driven by a careful understanding of the client’s requirements and the unique possibilities of each project.
