In order to draw attention to the increasing importance of sustainable developments in architecture, design awards are essential.
Tina Kammer has been appointed as a technical authority on various jury committees. Independently and competently, she evaluates sustainable and viable solutions in product design or architecture and thus supports visionary designers and companies that enable socially responsible business within ecological limits.
FOCUS OPEN
The Design Center Baden-Württemberg has been awarding the Baden-Württemberg International Design Award annually worldwide since 1991. Due to its non-profit character, it offers even the smallest companies the opportunity to face international comparison with their product innovations.

GREEN PRODUCT AWARD
Since the GPA was launched in 2014, we have been a proud part of the jury and award winners in the categories Building Components and Architecture every year.
Our contribution to the current developments in sustainable building, architecture and design is published in

We are rich!
In Germany and in the industrialised countries, we are surrounded by valuable materials. In Germany alone, the Federal Environment Agency estimates that there are over 50 billion tonnes.
In view of dwindling raw materials, the use of secondary raw materials, renewable raw materials and recyclable materials and products must become the new standard in the future. A rethink is urgently needed, especially in the construction industry, which ranks number one worldwide in terms of energy and resource consumption as well as waste generation and emissions.
One possibility is to use materials and products that have already been used – also known as urban mining. Materials are reused as secondary raw materials, which means that fewer or no new resources are used and the grey energy bound up in them is preserved. Another option is to list these materials – possibly in combination with used products – in databases in order to use them in new building projects. In this way, architects can base their planning on what already exists – this would be a completely different approach than the linear economy has propagated for decades.
And then there are – as in the Green Product Award categories “Architecture & Building Components” – new products that have been designed in such a way that they can be returned to the technical or biological material cycle at the end of their life cycle without any loss of quality.
A wide range of innovative product developments is essential so that all protagonists in the building industry can make their contribution to overcoming the climate crisis and stopping global warming.
