BOOK PRESENTATION
„Sustainable Architecture & Design”
The specialist publisher for architecture and design avedition hosted a book release on 12 December 2023 at the
Theater der Altstadt in Stuttgart for the book release. In front of a full house, publisher Petra Kiedaisch talked to us, as editors and authors, about the creation of the first yearbook and the background to the selection and sustainable approaches of the projects.
50 international projects present the most innovative and forward-looking solutions whose contribution to Baukultur development is clearly recognisable – regardless of their size, use and location. The focus is on all relevant topics of transformation development: sufficiency endeavours, answers to the best possible use of resources as well as circular processes and strategies, socio-cultural aspects and biodiversity, and much more.
It was important to us to find international projects that fulfil this requirement, that have broken new ground and show how things can work. There is no single solution to the diverse challenges of sustainable and circular design, which is why this book presents a wide range of future-orientated solutions that have flowed from an attitude of creative work. They are encouraging, inspiring and simply fun.
EDITORIAL
The keyword “Sustainable Architecture and Design” are consistent companions in our everyday professional life. At the same time, not achieving the climate goals and the resulting existential consequences are omnipresent. There are load calls for change. A paradigm shift in architecture is required. But how, by whom and how quickly can this be realised? For a long time, it has no longer been about rethinking architecture but about reinventing ourselves. The idea of publishing a yearbook emerged from the deep conviction that we can shape our future positively and develop this creative act together with all those involved.
There is not just the ONE solution but many. The design of buildings is individual, as are the presented solutions. The book represents an attempt to show the scope of possibilities. It is intended to encourage and inspire novelty. The 50 projects that we have collected show impressively that it can work!
