Interview with Alexander Ilsink, CEO of Mobilane in the third generation on the topic of circular economy and the introduction of MobiRoof ECO
From the throwaway society to the circular economy
In order to efficiently counteract the global loss of resources, the topics of product design and material efficiency are becoming increasingly important. If we want to live in an intact environment in the future, the amount of waste must be drastically reduced.
The urgency of a climate-conscious and resource-saving approach is particularly evident when it comes to building. Mobilane’s mission statement of creating sustainable, green and healthy environments is therefore more relevant than ever. The family company has been committed to more and more sustainable greenery for three generations.
Alexander Ilsink, who is the third generation to run the company, explains:
“In line with our core values of quality, sustainability, innovation and a passion for greenery, we have further developed our green roof system. Important starting points for us were the limitation of CO2 emissions and the circular economy. Our previous system was of course also developed with these principles, but we now wanted to go one step further and be even more sustainable. The material for the MobiRoof ECO cassette is a raw material obtained from waste. This limits the flow of waste and relieves the burden on the environment. Some of the material is obtained from our own waste stream. “
The cassettes are recycled and recyclable
That makes them a circular product.
“We want to become one step more sustainable. Part of the material is obtained from our own waste stream. The MobiRoof ECO-Cassette is manufactured in the Netherlands and completed in our own nursery. This significantly limits the transport routes in product manufacture and our CO2 emissions reduced.”
The square and sustainably produced MobiRoof ECO cassettes support climate-neutral and future-proof construction. A green roof has a positive effect on certification by e.g. BREEFAM or LEED.
