THE STUDIO
MIYUCA is a one-woman-studio founded in 2015 by the italian designer Jasmin Castagnaro. The multidisciplinary design studio based in northern Italy (South Tyrol) offers customized product & graphic design and produces its own ideas all handmade, labeled MIYUCA. The vision of MIYUCA is to create products that stir an emotion within the viewer and have a positive impact on the environment.
THE STORY
RECYCLED NATURE COLLECTION is the name of a project born in 2015. The main goal was to find alternative materials to plastic, trying to use natural resources that surround us. The first product that emerged from this mission is LAAB-Light & Leaves, a series of lamps created using the fallen leaves collected during autumn. In fact the word “LAAB” means „leaves“ in the South Tyrolean dialect.
After the leaves fall to the ground naturally they are collected and carefully sorted by colour and type then mixed with a special recipe of natural glues and bio-resins. Thanks to a particular technique of reusable wooden moulds, the lamps can be produced from a single cast without dividing lines. In this way unique pendant lamps with a smooth finish are created.
LAAB incorporates craftsmanship, quality, sustainability and design.
In a society marked by waste, LAAB is an alternative to conventional plastic products. The target are people who not only value the aesthetics of the lamp, but also consciously decide to buy a sustainable product.
THE MATERIAL
The true innovation of the RECYCLED NATURE COLLECTION is the material itself.
In fact LAAB can be used in a variety of areas. The exceptional feature of this new material is to let light shine through very unique textures. Each lamp or surface is an exclusive piece, shades of colours create a very individual, warm and welcoming atmosphere and turn every room into something very special.
