This fancy lamp proposes a radical new approach to lighting design. By utilizing photo luminescent pigments to capture escaping light, the latern covers waste energy back to visible light. Using the Murano glass blowing technique, they were able to embed photo luminescent pigments into the glass body of the lamp enclosed by a frame in 3 different colours.
Photoluminesence is a process in which energy absorbed by substance is gradually released as light. The addition of pigment to hand blown glass thus gives each lamp its own unique pattern and glow. 30 minutes charge of recycled light from a traditional incandescent or LED light bulb provides a few hours of ambient lighting.
With this modern latern, the designers illustrate, that by taking a fresh approach to traditional production methods and existing materials, they can create an engaging, new lighting experience whilst making the most of energy.
